The rapper sees off Outkast and U2 to score his second Number One of the year...

JAY-Z and OUTKAST today (November 8) both kept U2 from the top of the US album chart this week, despite the Irish fourpiece selling more than twice the number that took RADIOHEAD to the chart peak a month ago.

JAY-Z notched up his second number one album of the year as ‘The Dynasty Roc La Familia (2000 – )’ went straight to the top of the chart, selling 558,000 copies. Atlanta duo Outkast were just pipped to the top spot with 526,000 copies of ‘Stankonia’ sold, while U2’s ‘All That You Can’t Leave Behind’, despite notching up the band’s highest ever first week tally with 428,000, could not match their UK number one, going in at three.

Previous chart topper Limp Bizkit’s ‘Chocolate Starfish And The Hot Dog Flavored Water’ fell to four with sales just under 298,000, while Godsmack moved to five with ‘Awake’ selling 256,000.

Further down the chart, Eminem enemies Insane Clown Posse hit the chart twice this week, with ‘Bizaar’ going in at number 20 and ‘Bizzaar’ at 21.

PJ Harvey’s ‘Stories From The City, Stories From The Sea’ charted at number 42.
