As JAY-Z’s US smash ‘I JUST WANNA LOVE U’, featuring THE NEPTUNES’ PHARRELL WILLIAMS, hits the UK shops this week, it has emerged that he is to fly to LA to begin the shooting of the video for his next single ‘CHANGE THE GAME’.
The video features Roc-A-Fella cohort Memphis Bleek, and is directed by Dave Meyers, famed for his full length directorial debut ‘Foolish’, Master P’s second feature film. Meyers will also give Bleek’s forthcoming single ‘Do My’ his video treatment.
In other Jay-Z film news, the star, who has scored two US album Number Ones this year, has just finished work on forthcoming full-length feature ‘Paid In Full’. Co-starring Damon Dash, it is described as an ’80s period piece about three hustlers in Harlem. The Miramax film, also starring Mekhi Phifer, Cam’ron, Wood Harris (‘Return of the Titans’) and Regina Hall (‘Best Man’, ‘Scary Movie) is directed by Charles Stone of the Budwiser ‘Wassup!? TV ads.
Staying with hiphop celluloid news, Prodigy (of Mobb Deep) is currently filming his second video in Long Island City for ‘Y.B.E.’, taken from his solo LP ‘H.N.I.C’. The video will feature a cameo appearance from B.G, (of Cash Money Millionaires) whose album is currently racing up the Billboard rap charts – his solo offering ‘Checkmate’ currently stands at Number Five.
The video will be directed by Little X, who directed Mystikal’s ‘Shake Ya Ass’, M.O.P.’s ‘Ante Up’ and Reflection Eternal’s ‘The Blast’.
reports that the treatment for the video begins showing the glamour and ghetto fabulousness made familiar in many associated videos, before cutting away to the real life of the projects where Young Black Entrepreneurs get their hustle on to survive.
