Barack Obama reveals that he gives Jay-Z parenting advice

US President says he tells rapper how he should raise Blue Ivy

Barack Obama has revealed that he gives Jay-Z parenting advice.

The rapper and his wife, Beyonce, have long been ardent supporters of the US President – and in an interview with a US radio station, Obama said that he has told the hip-hop superstar how he should raise the couple’s daughter, Blue Ivy.

Speaking to Cleveland Z107.9 about his relationship with the music power couple, he said: “I’ve gotten to know these guys over the last several years… They’re good people. Beyonce could not be sweeter to Michelle and the girls. They’re good friends. They really are down-to-earth folks. And we talk about the same things I talk about with all my friends.”

He added:

They’ve got a new daughter. I made sure Jay-Z was helping Beyonce out and not leaving it all to mom and the mother-in-law.

Earlier this week (October 16), Jay-Z appeared in Obama’s latest campaign video as he voiced his support for the Democrat candidate, who is up against Republican Mitt Romney in the US presidential elections, due to take place on November 6.

“When the president got in office initially, what he represented to a nation of kids was hope,” he says in the clip. “The hope of people all across the country, who would look and see themselves and know the possibilities.” Scroll down below and click to watch the video.

In September, meanwhile, Jay-Z and Beyonce hosted a $40,000-per-ticket fundraiser at the rapper’s own 40/40 Club, raising $4m for the campaign. The Republican National Committee criticised Obama for spending time “hobnobbing” with stars instead of concentrating on politics.

The pair are not the only musicians to get behind Obama’s 2012 re-election campaign. In August, Brooklyn band The National played a rally for the incumbent president in Iowa.

In September, Foo Fighters dedicated their track ‘My Hero’ to Obama when they played a two-song acoustic set at the Democratic National Convention.
