Major League Lacrosse spokesperson hits back at Jay Z verse

Rapper implied Drake was "soft" by comparing him to the sport on DJ Khaled's 'They Don't Love You No More'

Jay-Z has been reprimanded by a spokesperson for Major League Lacrosse after using the sport as a way to insult rival rapper Drake.

The rapper’s original insult came in the DJ Khaled song ‘They Don’t Love You No More’ which came out earlier this week and can be streamed below. In his verse, Jay Z claims that Drake is “as soft as a lacrosse team“.

This comment did not escape top level lacrosse players, with a spokesperson for the professional league, Major League Lacrosse, telling MTV that Jay Z “wouldn’t last a minute” on a lacrosse field, and inviting him to play a game.

The statement reads: “Lacrosse is often called the fastest sport on two feet. Players are on the field dodging and shooting balls at over 100 miles per hour. With that said we don’t think Jay-Z knows what he’s talking about when he calls Lacrosse ‘soft’. I can guarantee you it is anything but a ‘soft’ sport.’ Mr Carter would not last one minute on a lacrosse field during a match and he is more than welcome to come to any of our games and try.”

Jay Z’s initial verse came following an ongoing rivalry with Drake which saw the Canadian rapper claim that, “Jay Z’s somewhere eating a fondue plate,” during a recent basketball match between the Toronto Raptors and Brooklyn Nets.

Meanwhile, Jay Z confirmed a series of US stadium tour dates with Beyonce earlier this week. The ‘On The Run’ tour starts in July.
