Jay Z, Coldplay’s Chris Martin and Timbaland take the London Underground to O2 Arena show – watch

The megastars rode the tube to their gig just like Rihanna in 2011

Jay-Z and Timbaland took the London Underground to their gig at London’s O2 Arena over the weekend.

They were joined by Coldplay’s Chris Martin in travelling on the Jubilee Line on Saturday night (October 12) to the Greenwich venue from Waterloo station. Chris Martin later joined his friends onstage to perform ‘Ain’t No Love (In The Heart of the City)’ later that evening. Rihanna also travelled to her shows at the O2 in 2011 on the tube.

Jay-Z winds up the UK leg of his ‘Magna Carter World Tour’ tonight (October 14) at the O2 Arena, with his fourth show at the London venue.

Jay Z kicked off the UK run of dates on October 3, by playing songs from his recently-released ‘Magna Carta Holy Grail’ album. Arriving on stage at the Manchester Arena shortly after 9pm, Carter opened the set with the first song from ‘Magna Carta Holy Grail’, ‘Holy Grail’, followed closely by ‘Crown’, ‘Fuckwithmeyouknowigotit’, ‘Oceans’ and later ‘Picasso Baby’.

With superstar producer Timbaland manning the FX board behind Carter, as the night went on a host of old classics were played, including ’99 Problems’, ‘Girls Girls Girls’ and the Jackson 5-sampling ‘Izzo (HOVA)’ alongside tracks from ‘Watch The Throne’ – his collaboration with Kanye West. Carter dedicated ‘Hard Knock Life’ to “anyone who, like me, has been through hard times in their life”, while, for fan favourite ‘Big Pimpin” he encouraged the crowd to undress and wave their tops in the air, as the rapper swung a Union Jack around his head.

The night came to a close with an emotional rendition of ‘Young Forever’. As the song finished, Carter asked the crowd “Manchester, can I take you home?”
