Film documenting Jay Z's epic six-hour performance at New York gallery is to premiere on HBO next week
Jay-Z‘s Picasso Baby: A Performance Art Film will get its world premiere on US premium cable network HBO next Friday (August 2).
The film documents the rapper’s epic six-hour performance of ‘Picasso Baby’, a track from his new album ‘Magna Carta Holy Grail’, at New York City’s Pace Gallery on July 10.
HBO has released a trailer for the film, which you can watch by pressing ‘play’ below. It shows Jay Z engaging with audience members including actor Alan Cumming, filmmaker Judd Apatow and performance artist Marina Abramovic.
“Concerts are pretty much performance art and a smaller venue is a bit more intimate, so you feel the energy of the people,” Jay Z says in the trailer.
‘Magna Carta Holy Grail’ debuted at Number One on the UK’s Official Albums Chart earlier this month (July), becoming Jay Z’s first ever chart-topping LP in the UK. The rapper has since announced a nine-date UK arena tour for later this year.
Jay Z will play:
Manchester Arena (October 3, 4)
Dublin O2 Arena (6)
Birmingham NIA Arena (8)
London O2 Arena (10, 11, 12, 14)
