Robert Pattinson to play Jeff Buckley in biopic?

Sources say the actor has asked to play the late singer

Robert Pattinson has asked to play Jeff Buckley in a forthcoming biopic of the singer’s life, according to reports.

Buckley died in 1997 aged 30, and a film of his life has long been rumoured to be in the works. Now some gossip websites have reported an anonymous source as saying Twilight actor Pattinson is “obsessed” with landing the role.

Buckley‘s mother Mary Guibert, 62, is also said to have reacted to the suggestion of Pattinson being involved, saying: “Robert is a fine young actor. I’m flattered he’s been linked to this project. When the time comes we’ll give everybody an opportunity to be seen and heard.”

Michelle Sy, who is rumoured to be producing the film, has previously requested that the actor who plays Buckley should be able to play guitar and sing. This would be an advantage for Pattinson, who has previously written and played on songs which appeared on the Twilight soundtrack.
