Discovery of DATs make live retrospective possible...

Jeff Buckley‘s long-awaited live LP, chronicling the late songwriter’s 1994-96 tours will be released in January 2000, according to industry sources.

Buckley‘s mother, Mary Guibert, is producing the record, along with former band members Michael Tighe and Mick Grondahl.

The three met in New York on July 21 to begin work on the tracklist, following Guibert’s discovery of DAT recordings earlier in the month. The three remained in New York for two weeks, listening to the extensive catalogue.

Speaking in America last week, Tighe said it was too early to tell whether the LP would consist of a complete performance, or be made up of a cross section of performances.

Buckley died during recording sessions for his second LP which was to be titled ‘My Sweetheart The Drunk’. Following his death, a double CD of the songs recorded up to that point was released under the title ‘Sketches (For My Sweetheart The Drunk)’.
