SILVA PIPPED BY LOPEZ FOR GOLD?

The news might provide some consolation for boyfriend Puffy as he faces a court battle...

JENNIFER LOPEZ looks likely to knock current Number One RUI DA SILVA off the top of the charts this coming Sunday (January 14).

If initial sales predictions are representative of the rest of the week, Lopez, whose new single ‘Love Don’t’ Cost A Thing’ was released on Monday (January 8), is just outselling ‘Touch Me’ by Rui Da Silva. Figures upto and including the close of sales on Monday show that Lopez has sold 16,970 copies of her single, while Da Silva has sold 14,356.

A chart expert at HMV in London told NME.COM this morning (January 10) that it looks to be a “two horse race” to be Number One, but because of how close the singles are in terms of sales, it could go either way.

Perhaps surprisingly, Feeder’s new single ‘Buck Rogers’ is currently at Number Four, and may secure them their biggest chart hit to date. Their high chart position is partially attributable to the fact they have been touring record stores across the country, and that the “buzz with Feeder is finally starting to translate into sales”, according to HMV.

Of the other new releases, Fatboy Slim’s new single ‘Demons’ is at Number 18, Creed’s ‘Arms Wide Open’ is at Number 13, and ‘Camels’ by Santos is at Number 9.
