Jet axe two dates in the US

Nic Cester is suffering with throat problems

Jet have been forced to postpone two North American shows due to singer Nic Cester coming down with acute laryngitis.

The band pulled a date at Philadelphia Theatre of Living Arts last night (September 29) and they have cancelled their appearance at Toronto Guvernment tomorrow (October 1) after doctors ordered the singer to rest his voice for five days.

Speaking on their myspace page, the band wrote: “In Australia, we say, ‘I am absolutely gutted’, when the gravity of the situation is overwhelming. After all the work we’ve done on ‘Shine On’ and on making this tour something special, all of us are very disappointed with the news of Nic‘s laryngitis.

“Cancelling shows is not something we take lightly at all. Once again, our sincerest apologies to all of our fans. When we return, it will of course be with a vengeance.”

The band confirmed that the dates will be rescheduled in November.

‘Shine On’ is released in the UK on Monday (October 2).
