My Morning Jacket’s Jim James announces new solo album and shares lead single

'Uniform Distortion' - James' third solo LP - will hit shelves in June

My Morning Jacket frontman Jim James has announced his next solo album, ‘Uniform Distortion’ – check out the video for its lead single, ‘Just A Fool’, below.

The new LP will be James’ third solo album, following on from 2016’s ‘Eternally Even’ – his last album of original material. The musician also released a covers record, ‘Tribute To 2’, last year.

‘Uniform Distortion’ will be released on June 29 via ATO Records, with the album having apparently influenced by the 1970s magazine The Last Whole Earth Catalog and Duane Michals’ ‘Illuminated Man’ photograph. The latter has been used as the cover art for the new album, with James having convinced Michals in a series of letters to give him permission to use it.

James has previewed ‘Uniform Distortion’ today (April 17) by releasing its opening track and lead single, ‘Just A Fool’ – listen to the new track below.
