The family of JIMI HENDRIX

have launched a LONDON High Court action over some early recordings made by the late legend.

The Hendrix

estate, handled by Experience Hendrix LLC, is claiming royalties from PPX who own the recordings. The legal action relates to music recorded by Hendrix as a “sideman” with Curtis Knight And The Squires in the years before he found fame. Experience Hendrix are also claiming damages for the licensing of recordings not listed in an agreement between the two parties stemming from 1973.

It argues there has been non-payment of royalties due and that records have been released for which no licence was granted under the agreement.

Enterprise Hendrix are asking Mr Justice Buckley to grant an injunction restraining future releases or licences of recordings on which Hendrix

performed in any capacity – other than 33 master tapes to which it agrees that PPX is entitled.

The hearing is expected to last eight days.
