Former JLS star Oritse Williams has been charged with rape after an alleged attack on a fan in a hotel room.
The 31-year-old star allegedly attacked the woman after a concert at the Gorgeous club in Wolverhampton. He was arrested on December 2 2016.
A second man, 31-year-old Jamien Nagadhana, faces a serious sexual assault charge.
They are both set to appear before magistrates on 11 October.
Confirming the charge, West Midlands Police said: “We’ve charged two men with sexual offences after an allegation of rape at a Wolverhampton hotel.”
In a statement from December 2016, the force confirmed: “”West Midlands Police were called to a Wolverhampton hotel at 7.45am on Friday 2 December after an allegation of rape and sexual assault was made by a 20-year-old woman.
“A 30-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of rape and a 29-year-old man arrested on suspicion of sexual assault.”
Denying the allegations,Williams’ management company 10 Worlds Music UK said: “Oritse denies the allegations against him.
“The matter is in the hands of the police and it would be totally wrong for us to comment any further.”
Williams initially shot to fame in 2008 on series five of The X Factor.
He came second with JLS, alongside bandmates Aston Merrygold, Marvin Humes and Jonathan JB Gill.
