Dave Grohl to feature on new Joan Jett album

'Unvarnished' will be released on October 1 and also sees a guest spot from Against Me!'s Laura Jane Grace

Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl is set to guest on the new album from Joan Jett And The Blackhearts.

‘Unvarnished’ will be released on October 1 and is the rock legend’s first release since 2006’s ‘Sinner’. The LP will also feature an appearance from Against Me!‘s Laura Jane Grace.

Rolling Stone reports that the 10-track record will feature tracks about Hurricane Sandy and the death of Jett’s parents. The first single is entitled ‘Any Weather’, and Jett will debut the song on US chat show Jimmy Kimmel Live on August 8. In a statement, Jett commented: “It’s a real band album. Everybody was involved.”

Meanwhile, Joan Jett is suing US clothing store Hot Topic, stating that the shop’s Blackheart range of underwear infringes on her own line of clothing, also called Blackheart. The former Runaways member’s Blackheart Records Group Inc have filed a suit against Hot Topic Inc for trademark infringement. Blackheart Records Group Inc have said that Hot Topic approached them in 2010 asking to work together to produce a range. However this never transpired and Hot Topic then started selling their own lingerie line under the Blackheart name, branding the items as “lingerie for girls who rock and roll.”

Blackheart Records are now demanding unspecified compensation for damages. They have also applied for an injunction to block any more sales of Hot Topic’s underwear under the Blackheart name. After going solo in the late 1970s, Joan Jett set up Blackheart Records with Kenny Laguna.
