Joe Cole lands first role after ‘Peaky Blinders’

The actor will play a recovering porn addict in 'Pure'

Actor Joe Cole has gained his first role since Peaky Blindersas a a recovering porn addict in new show Pure.

The John Shelby actor – who also had a starring role in Black Mirror‘s ‘Hang The DJ’ – will star in the six-part series, which follows a woman’s struggle with ‘pure O’, a form of OCD which manifests in unseen mental rituals and intrusive sexual thoughts.

Cole will star as recovering porn addict Charlie, alongside OCD sufferer Marnie (played by Charly Clive). Anthony Welsh,  Kiran Sonia Sawar, Niamh Algar, Arabella Weir, Ewan Stewart, Olive Gray, Tori Allen-Martin and Jacob Collins-Levy all also star in the show.

Pure will air on Channel 4.

Meanwhile, a Peaky Blinders festival is set to take place later in the year.

For two weekends over September 7-8 and 14-15, the Black Country Living Museum in Dudley will be transformed into the streets of 1920s Birmingham where the show is set.

Among the highlights are 1920s and ’30s-themed cocktails and music, live street theatre performances inspired by the show, and  the opportunity to drink in a mock imagining of the Garrison pub, where Tommy Shelby and co are known to drown their sorrows in the show.
