A letter written by John Lennon pre-BEATLES fame to the NHS is expected to fetch more than £13,000 at auction.
The typed letter, dated 22 October 1962, is a request from John Lennon to the Liverpool NHS asking them to return his name to the free healthcare list after they believed he had left the country.
The letter reads: “In point of fact I left the country only for an engagement (as a musician) in Germany but returned to this country about three months later. I would, therefore, be obliged if you would please return my name to the National Health Service List. Yours faithfully, [a][/a].”
Handwritten notes on the letter show that his NHS privileges were reinstated shortly afterwards.
New York auction company momentsintime.com are selling the item, which has an estimate of £13,350.
