A chilling photograph marking the death of John Lennon is to be auctioned in LONDON.

The photograph, taken by his widow Yoko Ono depicts John Lennon‘s trademark spectacles, splattered by blood, beside a glass of water.

The photograph was taken in their New York apartment following his assassination in 1980.

According to the auctioneers, only six copies of the photograph were printed in 1994. Four of these were given to close friends of the couple, one was kept by Yoko Ono with the final print exhibited in New York. This latter was then sold to a fundraiser for the Tokyo based charity ‘Artist Residencies of Tokyo’, who is now auctioning the picture to raise funds for charity.

During the sale on April 17, it is expected to raise between £8,000-£10,000.
