The former Sex Pistol's character is called Meat Sweats
A first-look at John Lydon in the new series of Rise Of The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles has been revealed.
The series premieres in the US next week (September 17) and will also star guest appearances from the likes of Game Of Thrones‘ Lena Headey and American wrestler-turned-actor John Cena.
The former Sex Pistol and Public Image Ltd. frontman lends his voice to a character called Meat Sweats, a Gordon Ramsay-esque celebrity chef called Rupert Swaggart. He was turned into a mutant pig living in the sewers of New York after being bit by a mosquito.
In a preview clip, Meat Sweats is seen stewing a concoction in a cauldron, before a flashback scene reveals how he came to be in the sewers. Watch it below.
Rise Of The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is the fourth animated show to be produced based on the comics and 1980s cartoon.
Earlier this year, Lydon reflected on the demise of his Sex Pistols bandmate Sid Vicious and how the bassist inspired PiL’s track ‘Low Life’. “I missed Sid,” he said. “I missed how I could have helped him, steered him away, but he sought it out. We dragged him into the band but he wasn’t prepared for the onslaught.
“Heroin was a natural safety blanket; it takes away those feelings of doubt. For me, self-doubt is one of my biggest motivators. It’s where I thrive. I can’t deal with compliments but I can handle an insult. It armours my artillery.”
