'Ring Of Fire' is about the "transformative power of love" and NOT piles...
Relatives of the late Johnny Cash are blocking plans to use the song ‘RING OF FIRE’ on an advert for a haemorrhoid treatment.
The idea was formulated by a TV producer from Florida. She heard Johnny Cash‘s song on the radio while suffering from haemorrhoids.
Merle Kilgore, co-writer of the song, gave permission to use the track, believing it to be funny, as Johnny Cash himself had often joked about the condition whenever he introduced the song.
Johnny Cash ‘s family have reacted to the proposal differently, with daughter Roseanne explaining to a Nashville newspaper, that they “would never allow the song to be demeaned like that”.
“He [Kilgore] started talking about this moronic tie-in without talking to any of us,” she explained. “The song is about the transformative power of love and that’s what it has always meant to me and that’s what it will always mean to the Johnny Cash children.”
