The country legend is taking a clothing chain to court for using an unauthorised picture of him on a T-shirt...

JOHNNY CASH and longtime photographer JIM MARSHALL have launched a lawsuit against a clothing chain for copyright infringement.

According to reports from the US, Cash is suing the Urban Outfitters chain for using his name and likeness on a T-shirt sold in their stores without his permission.

The photo is one taken of Cash at a concert in San Quentin prison in 1969.

Cash is cited in the suit, filed on Monday (April 16) at San Francisco District Court, as “one of the most accomplished, famous and recognisable country music artists ever”. He and Marshall are seeking monetary damages, profits from the T-shirt sales and punitive damages. No trial date has been set.
