Guitarist heads out on tour in October
Johnny Marr has added more dates to his upcoming UK and Ireland tour scheduled for October.
The former guitarist in The Smiths recently announced solo shows in Oxford, Birmingham, Bognor Regis, Newcastle, Inverness and Edinburgh, as well as two gigs at Manchester’s Albert Hall.
Now, Marr has added dates in London, Bristol, Dublin and Belfast. The London date will take place at The Forum in Kentish Town on October 20.
Tickets for the newly announced shows go on sale at 9am on August 12.
During the tour, Marr and his band will record a new live album. It will be the first live album Marr has been involved in since The Smiths’ ‘Rank’ in 1988.
Johnny Marr will play the following dates:
Oxford O2 Academy (October 4)
Birmingham Institute (5)
Manchester, Albert Hall (7 & 8)
Rockaway Beach Festival, Bognor Regis (10)
Newcastle University (11)
Inverness Ironworks (13)
Edinburgh Liquid Rooms (14)

Following his recent show supporting The Who in Hyde Park and Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds in March – which saw Marr join Gallagher onstage to perform ‘Ballad Of The Mighty I’ – Marr revealed he intends to release “a couple” of brand-new EPs.
Johnny Marr has released two solo albums to date: ‘The Messenger’ and ‘Playland’ in 2013 and 2014 respectively.
The guitarist will also release his first memoir in autumn 2016. The book will cover his entire career, from forming The Smiths alongside Morrissey to his work with The Cribs, Modest Mouse, The The and Electronic plus his solo career.
