Johnny Marr‘s autobiography Set The Boy Free will be published on November 3, it has been confirmed.
News of Marr’s book were first disclosed last year and the finished product will be available in hardback, eBook and as an audiobook in time for Christmas.
Commenting on the title, Johnny Marr said: “I wanted to convey a feeling of breaking free, that has been a constant throughout my life. A feeling that expresses itself as both escape and discovery. Transcendence. I found it through rock ‘n’ roll and art and a journey living both in the modern world.”
The book will cover Marr’s entire career, from forming The Smiths alongside Morrissey to his work with The Cribs, Modest Mouse, The The and Electronic plus a burgeoning solo career.
Set The Boy Free follows the release of Smiths frontman Morrissey’s biography in 2013.
