Underworld and James will also perform intimate gigs at the studio in October
Johnny Marr, La Roux, First Aid Kit, Underworld and James have been announced as this year’s BBC 6 Music Live at Maida Vale acts.
The artists will all play intimate gigs at the studio from October 6 to 10 as part of the BBC 6 Music Live event, with a small number of tickets available via ballot.
Applications open on September 15 and can be found at bbc.co.uk/6music.
The dates of each specific gig will be revealed one by one on Lauren Laverne’s BBC 6 Music show this week. She will also present coverage of all the gigs and interview each artist.
Speaking about the event, Laverne said, “I can’t wait for October to come around. It’s going to be yet another brilliant year for the 6 Music Live at Maida Vale sessions with this amazing line-up which encapsulates the spirit of 6 Music.”
Last year’s performances saw gigs from Sir Paul McCartney, Manic Street Preachers, Sigur Ros, Polica and Goldfrapp.
This year’s celebrations, meanwhile, will also include a number of other performances and sessions. On October 3, John Grant will perform with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra in Salford, while a selection of notable sessions from throughout the year will be broadcast again on the station between October 11 and 14.
Johnny Marr, meanwhile, is gearing up for the release of second solo album ‘Playland’. The record will be released on October 6 and was recorded in London. Speaking about the album’s recording location, Marr recently stated, “It was deliberate to work in London,” said Marr. “Where you work definitely affects how it sounds and seeps into the music, and I’ve developed a really good feeling for London in the past couple of years, I like the frenetic atmosphere.”
The ‘Playland’ tracklisting is:
‘Back In The Box’
‘Speak Out Reach Out’
‘Boys Get Straight’
