Johnny Marr to feature on ‘The Sweeney’ soundtrack

The former Smiths and Cribs guitarist plays for the Plan B-starring movie

Johnny Marr, former guitarist with The Smiths and The Cribs, is to feature on the whole of the soundtrack for forthcoming film, The Sweeney.

Marr’s guitar playing features throughout the movie and on every piece of the soundtrack, aside from the original theme song from the TV show turned movie, reports Pitchfork.

Marr was asked by composer Lorne Balfe to contribute to the soundtrack. The pair also worked together on the original score for 2010’s Inception.

Johnny Marr received an honorary doctorate from the University of Salford earlier this summer. The guitarist has been a visiting professor in popular music at the university since 2007.
