Joni Mitchell has signed a deal to release her new album on Starbucks label Hear Music.
As previously reported it was rumoured that Mitchell would be signing with the label after CEO Ken Lombard said in a press conference last week (July 18) that he would be announcing his next signing in the next few weeks.
Mitchell has previously released two albums via Starbucks – 2005’s ’Artist’s Choice’ and ’Selected Songs’.
The album – ‘Shine’ – will be Mitchell’s first collection of new material since 1998 and will available in the US and Canada on September 25 and the rest of the world on September 24, reports BBC News.
Speaking about the singing on the record, Lombard said: “Joni’s voice, both in the physical and lyrical sense, is as powerful as ever.
“In addition to her extraordinary songwriting ability, she is a Renaissance artist in every sense, and we are honoured to release this timely and exceptionally moving work.”
Paul McCartney‘s current album ’Memory Almost Full’ was released last month on the label, and has sold 447,000 copies to date in the stores.
