Demo cover of The Stylistics’ 'You Are Everything' dates from ’80s Paris session
A short clip allegedly recorded during a 1988 Judas Priest collaboration in Paris has emerged on YouTube over the past week.
The demo cover version of The Stylistics’ ‘You Are Everything’ was recorded in a 1988 ‘for fun’ in a session in Paris, according to Blabbermouth, and was done in collaboration with S/A/W, the songwriting/production trio of Mike Stock, Matt Aitken and Pete Waterman that also worked with Kylie Minogue, Debbie Harry, Girl Talk and Rick Astley.
The Stylistics track dates from 1971, and peaked at Number Nine in the US charts.
Unsurprisingly, given its collaborators, the brief clip reveals a poppy and melodic form of Judas Priest, one that the band’s guitarist Glenn Tipton had previously said he’s “pretty sure would never appear on a Judas Priest album.”
The recordings were made for experimental reasons, and it’s thought the band also worked on two S/A/W-penned songs during the sessions, ‘Runaround’ and ‘I Will Return’.
You’ll have to trust us that you’re not being Rick rolled:
