The Hollywood star plays her ShockWaves NME Awards Show 2005…

JULIETTE LEWIS played her first UK show last night with her band THE LICKS as part of the SHOCKWAVES NME AWARDS SHOWS 2005 (February 14).

The Hollywood actress – star of ’Natural Born Killers’ – made her live debut on these shores at the London Astoria supporting headliners LCD Soundsystem, Soulwax and The Go! Team.

Following her no-holds barred performance during which she introduced the track ’Comin’ Around’ as being about “sexual frustration”, Lewis told NME.COM backstage that she was really pleased with the show because there were ten people at the front who were really getting into it.

”That’s what it’s all about,” she said.

The star also revealed that in the US she is judged for being a film star, “whereas over here if you rock, you rock.”

Headliners LCD Soundsystem tore through a set which opened with ’Beat Connection’ and included ’Daft Punk Is Playing At My House’ as well as a cover of ’Jump Into The Fire’ by Nilsson and ’Slowdive’ by Siouxsie and The Banshees.

The full LCD Soundsystem set list ran:

‘Beat Connection’

‘Too Much Love’

‘Give It Up’

‘Daft Punk Is Playing At My House’

‘On Repeat’

‘Jump Into The Fire’

‘Losing My Edge’

The ShockWaves NME Awards Shows 2005 continue tonight at London Astoria with a headlining performance from Hope Of The States.
