Ceremony takes place in Los Angeles on Sunday (August 30)
Justin Bieber is the latest artist to be announced to perform at this weekend’s MTV Video Music Awards.
Bieber last took to the stage at the MTV VMAs in 2010 with a medley of his hits ‘Baby’, ‘Somebody to Love’ and ‘U Smile’.
Other performers this year will include Pharrell Williams, The Weeknd, Demi Lovato, Tori Kelly, A$AP Rocky, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis and Twenty One Pilots.
Additional performers and presenters will be announced closer to the ceremony. The 2015 MTV VMAs takes place in Los Angeles on Sunday (August 30).
MTV announced earlier this week that Kanye West will receive the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award during the presentation. Past recipients of this reward include Madonna, Justin Timberlake, Beyoncé and of course Jackson himself. It is yet to be confirmed whether Kanye himself will perform at the ceremony.
Miley Cyrus will host the proceedings. Jeremy Scott, one of Cyrus’ favourite designers, has given the VMAs’ Moonman statue a new look, including coloured metal, the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers’ TV test pattern on the MTV logo flag, and Scott’s signature winged sneakers and peace sign necklace.
This year’s nominees include Beyoncé, Kendrick Lamar, Ed Sheeran, Mark Ronson and Taylor Swift, who are all fighting it out for the highest honour, Video of the Year. Additional nominees include Nick Jonas, Nicki Minaj, The Weeknd and Maroon 5.
