Justin Bieber arrested following alcohol and marijuana fuelled drag race

Pop star caught by police along with a male friend on January 22

Justin Bieber has been arrested and accused of drag racing and driving under the influence of alcohol and marijuana.

The pop singer was pulled over in Miami after his yellow Lamborghini was spotted as one of two vehicles racing at 4.09am on January 22. Sky News reports that police have confirmed two vehicles were used to block off a road in order to stage the race and that Bieber and the other driver, a singer named as Khalil, were arrested and their cars towed.

Miami police spokesman Sergeant Bobby Hernandez revealed that 19-year-old Bieber resisted arrest and failed a field sobriety test after being caught driving at double the 55mph speed limit. Bieber “had been smoking marijuana and he did consume a beer” according to Hernandez. See Bieber’s mug shot above.

Bieber’s arrest marks his second run in with the police already in 2014 after he was questioned by police over the egging of his neighbour’s house in Calabasas, California earlier in January.

Bieber spoke to police earlier on January 14 in relation to the incident. He was accused of throwing eggs at his neighbour’s house while his neighbour and neighbour’s daughter were on the balcony filming him. Police arrived at his home with a search warrant but did not arrest Bieber.
