'Stitches' makes slow climb to Number One after 17 weeks
Justin Bieber has been knocked off the top spot of the UK Singles Chart this week by fellow Canadian singer Shawn Mendes.
Mendes’ hit ‘Stitches’ has made a slow climb to Number One after first entering the Top 100 some 17 weeks ago in October. It has been in the Top 40 since December.
The track beat last week’s Number One, Bieber’s ‘Love Yourself’, by 1,500 combined chart sales. It is teen star Mendes’ first Number One single in the UK.
Bieber also occupies third and fourth spots of the chart, with ‘Sorry’ at Number Three and ‘What Do You Mean’ at Number Four.
A new entry in this week’s chart is Tinashe and Chance The Rapper collaboration ‘All My Friends’ at Number Eight.
Meanwhile, Major Lazer’s ‘Light It Up’ moves up to Number 10, Craig David and Big Narstie’s ‘When The Bassline Drops’ peaks at Number 12 and The 1975 score their highest-charting song yet with ‘The Sound’ at Number 15.
