Justin Timberlake and Anna Kendrick appeared on-stage in Cannes last night, performing a cover of Cyndi Lauper’s ‘True Colours’ together.
The pair are busy promoting new film Trolls. Timberlake provides the voice of main character Branch in the Dreamworks movie, which will be released in November. Kendrick, meanwhile, plays Poppy.
“We are Anna and Garfunkel,” Timberlake said to the Cannes audience, clutching his guitar. “Ok, we are going to give this a go, but you guys have to be nice.”
“We’re just friends here right?” Kendrick added. “This isn’t like a big deal…we’re just hanging out in our living room.”
Timberlake has acted as executive producer on the Trolls soundtrack, which will feature ‘True Colours’ and his new single ‘Can’t Stop The Feeling’. The album is also believed to feature songs Timberlake co-wrote with both Ariana Grande and Gwen Stefani.
Timberlake’s last new music came in 2013 with the release of ‘The 20/20 Experience’. The double album featured singles ‘Suit & Tie’ as well as ‘Mirrors’.
He will perform ‘Can’t Stop The Feeling’ at the Eurovision Song Contest ceremony in Stockholm this Saturday (May 14).
