Justin Timberlake has become a dad for the first time.
The singer and his wife, actress Jessica Biel, are celebrating the birth of their baby boy Silas Randall Timberlake.
Reports of the birth were confirmed by People magazine on Saturday (April 11) with reps for the pair confirming Biel was doing well and Timberlake was ‘ecstatic’ following the arrival of his first child.
Silas Rendell Timberlake takes on names from Justin’s own family. Silas was the middle name of Timberlake’s maternal grandfather Bill Bomas, who passed away in 2012. While Randall is his own middle name and his father’s first name.
Timberlake and Biel began dating in 2007. In December 2011 the pair became engaged before getting married in Italy in October 2012. Timberlake revealed the news that Biel was expecting their first child on his 34th birthday in January this year, posting a photo of him kissing Biel’s stomach, with the caption: “Thank you EVERYONE for the Bday wishes! This year, I’m getting the GREATEST GIFT EVER. CAN’T WAIT.”
Timberlake recently picked up the Innovator Award at the iHeartRadio Awards in Los Angeles. Whilst accepting his award he revealed he was bullied at school.
The singer said he was branded “weird” as a teenager, and offered encouraging words to teens experiencing teasing and bullying.
He said: “Growing up in school, no one ever called me anything close to an innovator, they called me different, they called me weird, they called me a couple of other words I can’t say on TV.
“So thankfully my mother taught me that being different was a good thing, that being different meant you could actually make a difference, so tonight I want to thank my mom.”
