Justin Timberlake confirms plans to release follow-up to ‘The 20/20 Experience’ in November

Part two of Timberlake's comeback album will follow later this year

Justin Timberlake is set to release the follow-up to his third album ‘The 20/20 Experience’ in November.

The news of a second instalment was first revealed by The Roots drummer Questlove, who performed alongside Timberlake on US TV show Late Night With Jimmy Fallon last week and also opened for the singer at his show at SXSW on Saturday (March 16), Timberlake will be releasing a second volume of ‘The 20/20 Experience’ later this year. The drummer appears to have announced the plans in a post on hip-hop website Okayplayer.com‘s messageboard in response to a negative review of Timberlake’s third album, which was his first new material in six years.

In the lengthy post, Questlove describes the album as “OVERLY ambitious. Like a LOT of ideas crammed into one,” before revealing: “spoiler alert. ’20/20 Vol 2′ comes out in Nov (10 songs now…..10 songs later= 20 vision)”.

This news was confirmed by Timberlake himself at a launch party for the album in Los Angeles on Monday night (March 18). Reuters reports that Timberlake told journalists at the party that, “I’ve got to clear up the rumours. This whole thing about this only being the first part … is true. There is another half. I’m not giving you a release date.”

Timberlake releases ‘The 20/20 Experience’, his first album since 2006, which features the singles ‘Suit & Tie’ and number one hit ‘Mirrors’ today (March 18). He is also set to co-headline headline this summer’s Wireless festival in London with Jay-Z. Both acts will headline individual dates prior to the joint show, with Justin Timberlake headlining the festival on Friday July 12, and Jay-Z closing the Saturday (July 13). The pair will then come together for a special preview of their US tour, titled Legends of the Summer, on Sunday July 14. They will be joined by an impressive line-up of hip-hop acts on that date including A$AP Rocky, Nas and A Tribe Called Quest’s first UK show in 20 years.

Tickets go on sale on Friday 15 March at 9am and are priced at £75 plus booking fee. To check the availability of Wireless tickets and get all the latest listings, go to NME.COM/TICKETS now, or call 0871 230 1094.
