Justin Timberlake has said Vegas residencies feel “like you’re planning your retirement.”
Britney Spears just wrapped up her Vegas residency on New Year’s Eve 2017, but has since reportedly signed a deal to return to The Strip in 2019. Lady Gaga, meanwhile, recently announced she will play a large run of dates in the Nevada city.
Asked by Beats 1’s Zane Lowe if he would ever do Vegas, Timberlake replied: “I wouldn’t rule it out if it was something that was different. Immediately I’m like… it feels like you’re planning your retirement, you know what I mean? For some reason that feels scary to me.”
He continued to say there was one artist who he would try to emulate if he did do a residency. “The person who did Vegas better than anybody was Prince,” he said. “He was like, ‘I’ll just show up when I show up, and I’ll play 10 shows a year, and it’ll be me because I’m the greatest ever that ever did it.”
Meanwhile, Gaga’s Las Vegas residency will begin in December 2018 and will see the star play 74 dates.
Gaga confirmed the rumoured residency on Twitter, writing: “The rumours are true! I will have my own residency at MGM’s Park Theater. Get ready for a brand new show! It’s been my lifelong dream to be a Las Vegas girl, I’m so overjoyed!”
