Kaiser Chiefs have recorded the theme tune for a new animated series of Zig And Zag.
The puppets are most famous for appearing on Channel 4 series The Big Breakfast but will return to screens in animated form next year with a new CBBC show.
Ricky Wilson and Simon Rix from Kaiser Chiefs have recorded a theme tune for the series, which sees Wilson singing the line: “Well come along for the ride, me and you and Zig and Zag“.
Zig And Zag creators Ciarán Morrison and Mick O’Hara are behind the new Zig And Zag show and will again provide their voices. The series will follow the pair after they crash land on Earth.
Kaiser Chiefs have begun writing and demoing a new album, but recently admitted that they need to find a producer who can help shape the songs they’ve made.
The band spent time earlier this year writing in Cornwall for the follow-up to 2013’s ‘Education, Education, Education And War’, which spent two weeks at Number One.
After playing at Barclaycard Presents British Summer Time iLondon’s Hyde Park with The Who and Paul Weller in June, Wilson told NME: “The writing is going well. Whatever the schedule is, we’re ahead of it. On the last album, we were quite nervous without (departed drummer) Nick (Hodgson). We didn’t know if we could go on the right track without him. We just did it from the heart and that went really well. But this time we’re enjoying it a lot more, not worrying so much.”
Meanwhile, Wilson will also return to BBC series The Voice in 2016 on a panel which will include will.i.am plus new coaches Paloma Faith and Boy George. Sir Tom Jones has left the show but accused the BBC of “sub-standard behaviour” after alleging that he was only told he would not be returning to the series one day before his replacement was announced.
