Kaiser Chiefs and Razorlight back nuclear disarmament campaign

Thom Yorke and Franz Ferdinand also support it

Kaiser Chiefs and Razorlight are amongst the bands who are supporting the Campaign For Nuclear Disarmament.

Thom Yorke, Damon Albarn, Franz Ferdinand, Razorlight and Bloc Party are some of the 53 bands calling on the public to say no to nuclear weapons and war.

Parliament is expected to vote on the government’s proposal to replace Trident, Britain’s nuclear weapons system.

Ian Brown said: “Why do we need these weapons. Is someone going to attack us?…It is a lie to say these nuclear weapons are necessary for the UK but older civilisations are not allowed them. Say NO to Trident.”

Bloc Party’s Kele Okereke suggested that “climate change is clearly the greatest security threat we face. A £76 billion investment in tackling climate change would seriously change the world for the better”.

CND has organised a national ’No Trident’ demonstration on Saturday (February 24) in London, meanwhile an advert expression the group’s objections is set to appear in this week’s issue of NME, which comes out on February 21.
