UK’s biggest music festival announced

It will span the whole of October

The Kaiser Chiefs, Franz Ferdinand and Goldfrapp are lending their support to Oxjam– described by the organisers as “the UK’s biggest ever music festival” – in aid of charity Oxfam.

The event will aim to stage 2,500 music events in the month of October to raise money for the charity.

Kaiser ChiefsRicky Wilson said in a statement: “Oxjam is a new festival that will keep up the momentum of Live8. Whether it’s shaking a tambourine for hours, dancing till the break of dawn or forming a band on the spot. Big or small, it doesn’t matter. Please sign up and make a noise.”

Goldfrapp’s Alison Goldfrapp added: “We are playing lots of big festivals across Europe this summer but Oxjam is different, it’s a month long music festival where anyone can join in. Anyone can be part and help make poverty history through making some good noise.”
