Bookmakers slash the odds on ’Employment’…

Kaiser Chiefs have firmed their position as favourites in the running for this year’s NATIONWIDE MERCURY PRIZE.

Bookmakers William Hill have slashed the odds on the band winning the award from 4/1 to 9/4.

It is the third time in a week that the betting chain have cut their price.

The other two main contenders for the event are Bloc Party, the second favourites at 7/2 and The Magic Numbers at 6/1.

William Hill spokesperson Rupert Adams said: “Punters are piling in on the Kaiser Chiefs to win this year’s award and these type of punts are often telling when it comes to the announcement. But my money is still on Anthony & The Johnsons – a 10/1 outsider.”
