Hometown gig is set for September 13, 2013
Kaiser Chiefs are set to play the first ever gig at the newly built Leeds Arena next year on September 13, 2013.
Bassist Simon Rix said: “Having played everywhere in Leeds from the Duchess (RIP) to Elland Road, we are massively happy that Leeds has built somewhere new for us to play.”
The band’s return to their hometown will come after a busy year of touring which will include dates in South America and supporting Green Day on their European tour.
The band’s extensive UK tour will include 13 shows, beginning at Carlisle Sands Centre on February 11 and ending at London’s O2 Academy Brixton on March 1. The run of shows also includes gigs in Glasgow, Dunfermline, Manchester, Bridlington, Newcastle, Preston, Cheltenham, Wolverhampton, Southampton, Margate and Cambridge.
The tour is in support of the band’s new singles collection, ‘Souvenir: The Singles 2004 – 2012’, which features 16 tracks in total, including two new tracks ‘Listen To Your Head’ and ‘On The Run’. The collection also includes material from across the band’s four studio albums and features hit singles ‘Oh My God’, ‘Ruby’, ‘I Predict A Riot’ and ‘Modern Way’. It was released on June 4.
