The tracks leak but band are happy for you to listen
Three new songs premiered by the Kaiser Chiefs on their current UK tour have appeared online.
Rough cameraphone video shots of the band’s show in Glasgow (April 18) have been posted on clip site Youtube.com.
Despite the crude sound quality, the clips give a good first impression of the songs.
‘Heat Dies Down’ has a driving feel, like ‘I Predict A Riot’ but with a more melodic undercurrent, while frontman Ricky Wilson sings in a lower voice similar to that on ‘Modern Way’.
‘Learnt My lesson Well’ has a big bassy start before launching into a jaunty tune which compares well with the Super Furry Animals‘ ‘Something 4 The Weekend’, while ‘Highroyds’ recalls The Temptations‘ ‘Get Ready’ with an old soul and spiralling vocal and guitar motif.

Although its believed the songs are not expected to be given a proper release until next year, the band say they’re happy for fans to hear the tracks.
“We played three songs which are already on the internet,” Ricky Wilson the Daily Record. “They were recorded on people’s mobiles and the clips are there for people to hear, but it won’t do us any harm. It’s not like people are going to hear it and say ‘I don’t like that distorted clip so I’m not going to buy the album’.”
Wilson added that the band have yet to pick a producer for their second album.
