The tour would be Kanye's first since 2014
Leaks from two different American radio stations suggest that Kanye West is about to follow up his album ‘The Life Of Pablo’ with his first tour since 2014.
West launched his latest album at Madison Square Garden (New York) in February, and has already confirmed two further dates, one in Manila, and another at New York’s annual Governor’s Ball.
Both the newly leaked shows were revealed through tweets by radio show hosts, with one since deleted, and between them (unofficially) reveal two different West tour dates, presumably part of a much longer run.
As Pitchfork confirms, a since-deleted tweet by Portland station JAM’N 107.5 revealed a Portland date for July 8.
Ryan Cameron from Atlanta radio station V103 has tweeted an offer to win tickets to a West gig in the Phillips Arena, Atlanta on August 5. The gap between the two dates seems to suggest a tour length of (at minimum) around a month.
Last week, West ran a highly successful pop-up shop in support of The Life Of Pablo in Soho, New York, later commenting that he’d topped a million dollars in sales from the enterprise.
The pop-up ran for three days last weekend (March 19-20), selling merchandise related to the album. The success of the store forced police to shut down a street.
The rapper has since taken to Twitter to write: “They called me crazy and pointed fingers… but there is no other brand that could sell one million dollars of clothing in two days from one location”. West later described the shop as a “pop up of influence”.
