Kanye West changes album title again and says it’s ‘not album of the year but album of the life’

The record formerly known as 'Swish' now called 'Waves'

Kanye West has once again changed the title of his upcoming new album.

The rapper’s seventh studio effort, expected for release on February 11, was initially titled ‘So Help Me God’, before West later changed it to ‘Swish’. Now he has announced another name alteration, confirming it to now be called ‘Waves’.

“New album title, ‘Waves’,” West wrote on Twitter. “The album formally known as ‘Swish’.”

Having previously referred to the record as the best of his career and the album of the year, West has now claimed that it is in fact the “album of the life”. See West’s tweets in full below.

Following the news, fellow rapper Wiz Khalifa took issue with the new album title, suggesting it to be insensitive to incarcerated star Max B, who is currently serving a 75 year prison sentence for murder conspiracy and robbery charges.

Max B’s albums included ‘Coke Wave’, ‘A Wave Called Yes’ and ‘Return Of The Wave’. “Max B is the wavy one. He created the wave. There is no wave without him,” Khalifa wrote.

West responded to such criticism by paying “respect” to Max B via Twitter. See also below.

Meanwhile, West will premiere his new album Waves at a live event in New York next month, with UK cinema chain Vue amongst those signed up to show the gig live.

The rapper will perform at New York’s Madison Square Garden on February 11. The show will be live-streamed at cinemas around the world.

Vue have released the following details on the event:

“Screened live from New York’s Madison Square Garden, this is the first time music fans and Kanye enthusiasts alike will hear the record, which will be accompanied by a breath-taking performance curated by celebrated Italian contemporary artist, Vanessa Beecroft.

“The long awaited “best album of all time” will be played to a live audience on Thursday evening in New York City, while fans across the UK can see the 90 minute performance at a selection of Vue cinemas from 9.15pm.
