The donation is part of the Soles4Souls project
Reality TV star Kim Kardashian has promised that she and husband Kanye West will donate 1,000 pairs of shoes to charity after watching a television show that featured a teenager attempting to reach the philanthropic goal.
Kardashian, who recently gave birth to second child Saint West, tweeted on Thursday (December 10) that she was watching Fox show Dish Nation whilst breastfeeding when she caught the story of a 17-year-old Kansas teen, Amelia Flores, and the Soles4Souls project. The charity aims to get 1,000 pairs of shoes to the needy by Christmas.
Touched by the good cause, Kardashian tweeted: “I heard the cutest story of a girl who is trying to find 1,000 pairs of shoes to donate to this charity [Soles4Souls]! They helped her during Hurricane Katrina.”
She added: “I think I know the designer of Shoe of the Year Award!,” referring to West, who was recently honoured at an awards ceremony for his Yeezy shoe range.
“Kanye and I would love to donate those 1000 shoes to [Soles4Souls],” Kardashian continued. “You reached your goal, so proud of you!!!”
Flores herself later tweeted of the news: “Yay I did something!!”
Meanwhile, West and Kardashian are currently celebrating the arrival of their second-born child.
Baby boy Saint West was born on Saturday (December 5). The couple’s first child, daughter North West, was born in 2013.
