West's seventh studio album 'SWISH' was first announced in March
Kanye West will release his seventh studio album ‘SWISH’ “very soon”, according to Travis Scott.
West first announced the album in March of this year, originally referring to it as ‘So Help Me God’. It was renamed ‘SWISH’ in May.
Speaking on Beats 1 on Friday (October 30) Scott said, “That Ye album is nothing to sleep on. That Ye album is coming very soon. It’s lit.”
It follows comments Scott made earlier this year about the album. “His album is amazing,” he said in June. “He’s on his producing shit. He’s on his God-level rapping shit. It’s that Kanye everybody wants. It’s some ultimate shit.”
West recently appeared in Travis Scott’s video for ‘Piss On Your Grave’, lifted from Scott’s latest album ‘Rodeo’.
The video was directed by Nabil (Foals, Frank Ocean) and also features a cameo appearance from a masked Yasiin Bey, formerly Mos Def.
Director Nabil told The Fader about making the video, saying: “It was shot in in the countryside an hour outside the city, closer to CDG (Paris, Charles De Gaulle airport). There was a castle and by the castle there were some beautiful woods. It fit with the vibe and what they were wearing. We came up with the idea of shooting it the day before.”
There was a good vibe and it was super chill,” he added. “It was pretty sporadic—it wasn’t so premeditated. We just had fun with it.”
Although the song belongs to Scott, at one point it was reported that West was recording a song with the same title alongside Sir Paul McCartney. West’s lyrics on the track include the lines: “I use your face as a urinal, then do the same at your funeral.”
