Rapper takes fans behind the scenes of most recent clothing line in new film
Kanye West has revealed an entirely silent new fashion documentary.
The documentary shows behind the scenes footage of West and his team working on the release of his recent Yeezy Season 2 clothing line. It begins with a black screen showing text that reads: “This documentation has no sound”. The film can be seen here.
West debuted the Yeezy Season 2 line at New York Fashion Week in September to a mixed response from critics. He recently said that not being a gay man had held him back in the fashion industry, telling an interviewer: “I feel like I got discriminated in fashion for not being gay.”
“In music, you definitely get discriminated in music if you are gay. It takes amazing talents to break down barriers. Everyone thought that when Frank Ocean dropped that it was going to be bad for his career [Ocean came out in 2012]. I feel like it’s so cliché to speak about him as it relates to this subject, but there are people who broke the ground and he broke the ground. The people that break the stereotypes make history.”
West debuted his Adidas shoe the ‘Adidas Yeezy 750 Boost’ in February, a show he also live streamed to cinemas. During the show West premiered a new song by Sia, ‘Wolves’ featuring Vic Mensa.
Meanwhile, West recently donated to Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign, after Clinton said she would not rule out appointing West as her Vice President.
Clinton said: “I might want to give him some additional experience so he’s got, on all the other things he’s done on his resume, he’s got some kind of envoy role or something he could point to… I would not rule out anybody for Vice President”.
