Barack Obama jokes that Kanye West’s plan to run for president is ‘cray’

POTUS spoke at Democratic fundraiser in San Francisco earlier today (October 10)

Barack Obama poked fun at Kanye West‘s aspiration of becoming US President in 2020 at a Democratic fundraising event in San Francisco today (October 10).

The rapper announced that he will run for President in the 2020 election while accepting a prize at this year’s MTV VMAs.

Despite his wife Kim Kardashian stating that the announcement was “news” to her, West insists he is serious about the bid and that he has been considering it since 2010.

Offering advice to West on his upcoming presidential bid, Obama joked that the rapper refers to the position of President as “Peezy” and added: “First of all, you got to spend a lot of time dealing with some strange characters who behave like they’re on a reality TV show,” a reference to West’s Kardashian connections.

“Second important tip: Saying that you have a beautiful dark twisted fantasy? That’s what’s known as off-message in politics. You can’t say something like that. A lot of people have lost their congressional seats say things like that,” Obama continued

“And number three: Do you really think that this country is going to elect a black guy from the South Side of Chicago with a funny name to be president? That’s cray.”

West went on to play an 18-song set of greatest hits after Obama’s speech, including latest single ‘All Day’.

In a recent interview with NME, Rihanna revealed that she is waiting for West to be free so she can finish recording her new album with him. Similarly, Justin Bieber has said that he too is working with West on new music that boasts a “New York vibe.”
