"Hey 'Ye, do you know what it feels like?"
Former GOOD Music and Def Jam signee CyHi The Prynce has today (August 5) released ‘Elephant In The Room’, a scathing attack on his ex-boss Kanye West and the whole Def Jam organisation.
CyHi was signed to both labels for years, but never released an album during that time. Now a free agent, he’s taking aim at his one-time employers with a track that reveals his frustrations that a record never materialised. Click below to listen.
“Hey ‘Ye, do you know what it feels like? To really be signed to you in real life?” CyHi asks the GOOD Music founder, before adding, “Have you ever wrote a song where you know you ’bout to say something wrong but you’re still right?”
He goes on to rap about shooting up the Def Jam offices, kidnapping West and putting him in his trunk, and even appears to threaten ‘Ye’s family: “Oh now everybody’s getting kidnapped, take you back to your crib while your kids nap/And if your wife walk in start screaming in my ear then the bitch is getting bitch slapped“.
Fellow GOOD artists Pusha T and Teyana Taylor are also targeted: “OK my nigga Pusha shit snap, nah nah man that shit’s crap. Okay Teyana got a fat ass, but she won’t let nobody in the clique tap.”
In what’s quickly becoming a beef-heavy summer, the last week has also seen Drake and Meek Mill go at it. The latest development occurred just last night (August 4). At a show in Charlotte, North Carolina, when Meek delivered a freestyle aimed at his opponent.
Naming Drake’s Young Money label mates Lil Wayne, Tyga and Birdman, Meek said: “Wayne don’t fuck with you/Stunna don’t fuck with you/Tyga don’t fuck with you” before adding: “Everybody catching bullet holes, including Drake and the whole OVO“, a reference to two people recently being shot dead at a Drake afterparty.
