Win Butler debuts new Kanye West track

The Arcade Fire frontman dropped new track 'A Long Time' into his 'Windows 98' DJ set

Win Butler has reportedly debuted a brand new track by Kanye West during a DJ set.

DJing last night (April 28) under the alias Windows 98, the Arcade Fire frontman dropped a track from Kanye’s anticipated new album. The track is rumoured to be titled ‘A Long Time’.

Earlier this month, Kanye West previewed what looked to be another new track during a live performance at Power 106’s PowerHouse festival in Los Angeles on May 16. He performed a freestyle over his 808s & Heartbreak track ‘Heartless’, with the new song being dubbed as ‘I Want It All’.

Fans are currently waiting on Kanye West’s new album, the follow-up to 2013’s ‘Yeezus’. West recently made the surprise announcement that he’s changed the name of the new record from ‘So Help Me God’ to ‘SWISH’, though that may not be the final title. “I’m changing my album name to SWISH,” he wrote on Twitter. “I might change it again but that’s the name now.”

Meanwhile, Glastonbury co-organiser Emily Eavis has revealed that she received death threats after booking Kanye West to headline this year’s festival.

Ye’s appearance was confirmed in March by Eavis herself, who tweeted the news. But in what has resembled the backlash sparked by the booking of Jay Z in 2008, some festival-goers have been angered by the selection, with an online petition calling for Kanye to be replaced by a rock band attracting more than 133,000 signatures.

In a new interview with The Times, Eavis, who organises the festival with her father, Glastonbury founder Michael, has asserted that attracting West is “an amazing coup”, but said some of the abuse she’s received has been “just horrible”.

“I had death threats and stuff. It was just horrible. It was just crazy. It was getting out of control. We had Time magazine, all the American news channels saying they were going to come down. This incredible onslaught worldwide.”

“It was quite upsetting because we were talking about something that was so exciting and interesting and fresh and brilliant for the festival. Kanye West is making the most exciting music at the moment. He is an amazing force as a performer. For us, getting the biggest star in the world was an amazing coup.”
