Kanye West hires string quartet to play Sam Smith songs for Kim Kardashian on Mother’s Day

The rapper was away from his wife performing at a Chicago Bulls basketball game

Kanye West marked Mother’s Day in the US yesterday (May 10) by enlisting a string quartet to play Sam Smith songs for wife Kim Kardashian.

Kardashian gave birth to her and West’s first child, North, in June 2013. With his wife in Brazil the same day as he made an impromptu appearance at a Chicago Bulls basketball game, West sent a series of gifts to Kardashian on behalf of himself and their daughter.

West sent Kardashian “some thousand” white roses and a string quartet to play songs by the Grammy-winning British singer. “Every single waiter who brought food said ‘This is from Mr. West for the best mother in the world’! Seriously I have the best husband ever!!!!”, Kardashian wrote on Instagram. See below.

In May 2014, the rapper booked Lana Del Rey to sing at the wedding celebrations of himself and Kardashian.

West performed his recent single ‘All Day’ at Sunday’s Chicago Bulls NBA playoffs game against the Cleveland Cavaliers. The rapper, who hails from Chicago, introduced both teams before the tip-off, and during a first-quarter timeout, jumped back on the court for a rendition the track. According to the Bulls’ official Twitter account, the short show was impromptu.

‘All Day’ is expected to feature on Kanye’s forthcoming album. Last week he made the surprise announcement that he’s changed the name of the record from ‘So Help Me God’ to ‘SWISH’, though has reserved the right to change it again if he so desires. “I’m changing my album name to SWISH,” he wrote on Twitter. “I might change it again but that’s the name now.”
