The rapper says he wants to 'help' the world like 'school teachers and police officers'
The rapper features in the ‘Time 100’ list alongside the likes of Bradley Cooper, Taylor Swift, Björk and Christopher Nolan, among many others.
Entrepreneur Elon Musk penned a short article about why West should be included in the list, praising the star’s “incredible tenacity” and labelling him a “pop-culture juggernaut”.
In a video interview with Time, West described his own impact on pop culture.
He said: “Every time I crash the internet, it’s like this little drop of truth. Every time I say something that is extremely truthful out loud, it literally breaks the internet. So what are we getting all the rest of the time?”
The rapper continued to compare himself to school teachers and police officers.
He stated: “I don’t care about having a legacy or being remembered, the most important thing for me is… what can we do to make life doper for our kids… I take things that people take as a negative as an inspiration to do something better. There are school teachers that are on the exact same mission as me. There are police officers with the exact same mission as me. Just help, just give everything you got.”

Performance artist Marina Abramovic praises Björk in the latest issue of Time for being “always on the edge of everything”, while actress Mariska Hargitay describes Taylor Swift’s “megawatt talent, an extraordinary spirit [and] impossibly charming blend of impishness, poise and radiance to spare”.
Kanye West is set to release ‘So Help Me God’, his seventh studio album, shortly.
Last week, West told The New York Times: “I’m not a celebrity, I’m an activist”, continuing: “The fact that when I see truth it’s really hard for me to sit back and just allow it to happen in front of me on my clock makes me, a lot of times, a bad celebrity.”
The rapper added: “I feel like now I have an amazing wife, a supersmart child and the opportunity to create in two major fields. Before I had those outlets, my ego was all I had.”
